Deborah S. Jacobs
Medical Director
Deborah S. Jacobs earned an A.B. degree in Biology summa cum laude from Harvard and Radcliffe Colleges, and then an M.Sc. degree, by research, in Physiological Sciences from Oxford University in England, on a Rhodes Scholarship. She returned to the United States, completing the M.D. program at Harvard Medical School, and then a residency in Ophthalmology and fellowship training in Cornea and External Disease at Massachusetts Eye & Ear, Harvard Medical School. She was Director of Cornea Service at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, from 1992 to 2006, and then served as Medical Director at BostonSight, 501(c)3, from 2006 to 2018. Her work at BostonSight included establishing over a dozen network sites for PROSE treatment of complex corneal disease across the United States and in India and Japan. Dr. Jacobs now serves as Faculty, Cornea and Refractive Surgery Service, and Director, Ocular Surface Imaging Center, Massachusetts Eye & Ear, and Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School. Her main interests include ocular surface disease, corneal ectasia, imaging, evidence-based medicine, and the use of contact lenses in health and disease
